NOTICE: This is proposed legislation and as not been voted on or approved into regulations yet. |
Purpose and Scope
The purpose and scope of the Onsite Reform Act is to establish the following.
- Establish a standard payment scale and schedule for technicians
- Establish a standard payment scale and schedule for customers
- Prevent abuse of the Onsite system and promote the availability and effective range of individual technicians
Reason for Changes
The reason for this proposed legislation is due to certain companies and customers abusing the onsite system, ether by trying to ask for cheap onsites or by scheduling multiple onsites to get the discounted rates, then canceling most of the onsites after confirmation and assignment. These types of activities have lead to frustration within the techs, shortage of available fuel resources (especially with the current rising fuel costs), and resulting in situations where technicians can not be paid at all due to the short-changing by clients.
New rates for billing clients
If there is an existing Service Level Agreement, then rate will remain the same as specified in the Service Level Agreement. For those customers without a Service Level Agreement, the standard rate will be $40.00 per hour for labor, with a $0.28 per mile $20.00 per hou4 travel fee. The travel fee will be calculated using the round trip mileage time between the site and the shop.
Discounts on the travel rate can be offered for customers with multiple work orders in same general areas. An example of such a situation would be the Lowe's routes, as these assignments are in relatively close proximity to each other.
Fuel Rates by vehicle type
- 2018 Harley Davidson Street 500 - $0.15 / mile
- 2014 Kia Soul - $0.28 / mile
- 1990 Ford F-250 - $0.40 / mile
Technician Pay
Technician pay will be set to $17.50 per hour, to include all hours both onsite and during travel. This change would therefore eliminate the need for multiple pay codes, gas pay, and mileage page, which had resulted in pay discrepancies and embezzlement in the past by employees.
