Policy Regarding Call-offs and Mandatory Shop Days

Company Policy: Mandatory Work Days
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to establish clear guidelines and expectations around mandatory work days for employees.
This policy aims to ensure proper staffing levels to meet business needs while allowing flexibility for both employees and the employer in planning and scheduling workdays.
1. Mandated Work Days:
The employer may mandate up to 16 work days during a calendar month (limited to 4 per week) to ensure adequate staffing and completion of tasks. These mandatory workdays are in addition to the employee’s regular work schedule.
2. Work Day Notice Requirement:
a) The employer must provide a minimum of three (3) calendar days’ notice before scheduling an employee for a mandatory work day.
b) An employee must provide a minimum of three (3) calendar days’ notice before requesting to be excused from a mandatory workday.
3. Adjustment of Mandatory Work Days:
a) If the employer fails to provide the required three (3) days’ notice, one mandatory work day will be removed from the employee’s schedule.
b) If an employee fails to provide the required three (3) days’ notice for requesting to be excused from a mandatory work day, one additional mandatory work day may be added to the employee’s schedule, without limit.
4. Payroll Requirements:
Past the first 14 days of the month, the employer cannot mandate employees to show up to work if their payroll has not been caught up to the end of the previous week.
5. Non-Compliance:
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
6. Exceptions:
Any exception to this policy must be approved in writing by a System Administrator or other member of the company’s executive team, based on business needs or extenuating circumstances.
7. Policy Review:
This policy will be reviewed and updated as necessary by System Administration, in consultation with management and employees.
