Purpose[edit]

This policy establishes guidelines for the proper and professional use of radios by all Tech Stop employees while on duty. It ensures clear communication, efficient operations, and responsible use of company resources.

General Guidelines[edit]

  • Radios are issued for work-related communication only.
  • Personal conversations, jokes, profanity, or inappropriate remarks are strictly prohibited.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous tone during all transmissions.
  • Use clear and concise language. Speak slowly and enunciate clearly.
  • Minimize transmissions to essential information.
  • Utilize plain english, standardized codes, and terminology whenever possible.
  • Always identify yourself (call sign or name) before transmitting.
  • Acknowledge all incoming transmissions promptly.
  • Refrain from interrupting ongoing transmissions unless absolutely necessary (e.g., emergency).
  • Report any malfunctioning radios to your supervisor immediately.

Turning Radios On and Off[edit]

  • Turn on your radio at the beginning of your shift and keep it on until the end.
  • If you must leave your radio unattended for a short period, inform dispatch beforehand and place the radio in a secure location.
  • Radios must be turned off when attending court appearances, client meetings, or situations where radio communication is inappropriate.
